
L Kent Densley

L Kent Densley was born in Bingham Canyon, Utah on September 22, 1946 to Lovell Huffman Densley and Mildred Aylett Densley. His mother taught school for forty eight years and his father was a sheep rancher and later worked at Utah Idaho Sugar Company (at the time owned by the LDS Church). From an early age, he was taught the value of hard work. He became an eagle scout at the young age of 13.
Kent served a mission in the Southern Far East Mission, headquartered in Hong Kong, where he became an assistant to the president. On returning from his mission he attended the Brigham Young University, and graduated in 1972 Cum Laude, with an emphasis on Asian history and the Chinese Language. He went on to graduate in 1973 with Honors in International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management, with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance and Marketing. While in college he continued to play basketball, a sports he had played in high school. He remained active in sports throughout his life.
Kent started his career working for Fleet National Bank (Now Bank of America) where he set up a representative office in Singapore. While working for the First City National Bank of Houston, he served in many overseas roles. It was his position with this bank which brought him to London. He worked as Executive Vice President in both the Hong Kong and London offices. It was also this position that took him from London after he set up ACB International, Ltd, a Merchant Bank with joint venture partners Bank of China and Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade, a first for an American bank on mainland China.
In 1990, Kent returned to the USA, establishing East Bay Hardware and Marine, Inc. He also served as a Professor at Johnson and Wales University, in International Finance and International Marking, Director of Public Building Authority of Rhode Island and Vice Chairman of DEPCO reporting directly to the Governor. He went on to serve in high profile positions in Enron and Edward Jones Investment. In 2002, Kent moved into the field of real estate with Whitney Information Network, Inc., developing properties in South West Florida and Costa Rica, while managing a property portfolio of over $400 million. Since 2009, Kent has worked independently, continue to develop large real estate projects as well as providing consultancy to clients on restructuring balance sheets and commercial bank debt.
Kent has two children, Tucker and Morgan, who were with them in London, and may be remembered by early Britannia ward members. Tucker went on to become a violin make and Morgan is a ship’s captain with the Matson Shipping Line. Kent has three grandchildren (Gabreil, Stella and Moses) Gabe is working in Portland, Maine having graduated from Maine Institute of Fine Arts. Stella is in her second year at Columbia University and Moses is a freshman at City University of New York.
Kent served in many church callings over the years, but recalls his most fondest calling was the time serving as Bishop of the Britannia Ward. He wishes everyone from Britannia well and that the Celestial Powers will be with you and look over you.
